The KAE6188 Repeater System is linked full time (**on a good day) to the ‘Duval GMRS’ channel on Zello.
This allows for stations that are out of range of the repeater to communicate locally via the free Zello application, available on most platforms.
Transmitting on the Zello channel is only for GMRS licensed residents of NE Florida (counties surrounding Duval County, FL and southeast Georgia).
You must be ‘trusted’ and FCC licensed, verified by a system moderator to transmit via the Zello application. No exceptions.
To be ‘trusted’, check to see if there is a moderator online and then transmit a voice message stating your name, FCC issued callsign and location, requesting the moderator to make you a ‘trusted’ user.
Until trust has been given, your messages will only be heard by moderators and not be sent over the repeater, Duval GMRS Zello Channel or other users.
It is a good idea to include your FCC issued GMRS callsign in your account description or username to allow for easier verification.
Users transmitting via the Zello channel will be designated by a double beep courtesy tone on the repeater to differentiate between users transmitting via GMRS or Zello.
**When we say 'on a good day', this means the link to Zello is dependent on a working network connection at the repeater site. More often than not, this network connection will fail and the Zello channel will not be linked to the repeater system. To determine if the Zello channel is indeed linked to the repeater system, check for the 'DuvalGMRSGateway' user in the contacts list for the Duval GMRS channel. If that user is present, then the Zello channel is linked to the repeater system.
